● Ramón Mendiola, FIFCO’s CEO consolidated for sixth consecutive year as the number 1 business leader on the reputation list.
● FIFCO holds second place in the corporate reputation ranking nationwide.
The Corporate Reputation Business Monitor (MERCO) designated FIFCO’s CEO, Ramón Mendiola, first in its 2022 business leaders ranking in Costa Rica and highlighted FIFCO within the country’s top reputational leadership companies, holding second place among national companies.
After this evaluation, Mendiola counts six continuous years leading the national list, which uses a multi-stakeholder methodology and includes over twenty sources of information in the corporate and business sphere.
Mendiola has been at the head of FIFCO since 2017 and, under his leadership, in 2008 the company ventured into a triple bottom line strategy, believing that a company’s success goes beyond fulfilling its financial goals and includes the responsibility to also contribute to the environment and social well-being.
Also under his lead, FIFCO evolved its sustainability strategy towards the year 2025, by updating its sustainability conceptual framework and adopting the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors as its north star. FIFCO sets and makes public 9 goals addressing relevant topics such as the eradication of multidimensional poverty within the company, diversity, equity and inclusion, smart alcohol consumption, more balanced portfolios, its packaging agenda, circular economy and corporate governance.
“I receive this recognition on behalf of FIFCO’s more than 5,500 employees with pride and humbleness, but also with great responsibility to continue serving the Costa Rican society and promoting a better way of doing business in the region, one aimed at sustainability,” said Mendiola after receiving this recognition.
Credibility
This year, Ramón Mendiola was also appointed one of the most influential people in the region, appearing on Bloomberg Línea’s “Latin America 500” list. These recognitions are part of a series of awards granted to the entrepreneur for his strategic management in FIFCO and for his social vision; such is the case of the José María Roca medal, given to him in 2018 as a tribute to his leadership. At that time, Mendiola became the first Central American to win such recognition.
Thus, Mendiola expresses with his actions the company’s purpose: “Share with the world a better way of living”.
