FIFCO and INCAE train Central American communicators on sustainability

18 June, 2024

  • A one-month program focused on the fundamentals of sustainability and tools for effective communication
  • 30 participants will be trained in the first edition of this initiative

San José, Costa Rica. June 18, 2024. Florida Ice and Farm Company (FIFCO) and INCAE, through the Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership (CELIS), have begun sustainability training for communicators in Central America. This course seeks to provide the necessary skills to understand and communicate sustainability in a business context. During five sessions, the course will address the fundamental principles, strategies for achieving environmental and social sustainability, and the importance of collaborating with various stakeholders, all from the perspective of communicators and their needs.

The academic program will be taught by Ronald Arce, director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS); and Jaime García, senior researcher and project director of the Social Progress Index.

Maria Pía Robles, FIFCO’s Corporate Relations Director, commented: “This training aims to provide tools and a better understanding of communicators who are dedicated to inform other audiences of interest on sustainability. Undoubtedly, they are an important ally in the promotion of this agenda, which concerns us as a society. This initiative evidences FIFCO’s commitment to an increasingly expansive sustainability, a sustainability that puts collaboration at the center and recognizes the interdependence of the parties to address the main challenges facing humanity.”

Gabriela Lucke, director of CELIS, underscored the importance of these programs to improve economic productivity and to be competitive in markets with increasingly stringent regulations. “Training journalists on these issues is key to fostering greater awareness and action in the business sector, creating a ripple effect that benefits all of society,” she sustained.

If you are interested in being considered for future editions of this program (free of charge for communicators), please do not hesitate to send an email to [email protected], and we will be preparing a list of applications for 2025.

At the end of 5 class sessions a certificate of participation will be awarded to those who meet the program’s requirements.
