- Environmental, social, and educational initiatives reinforce the operation’s leadership in sustainable development.
- Support for communities and training local talent are fundamental pillars.
Reserva Conchal, FIFCO’s hospitality division, has developed a management model that combines responsible tourism with a comprehensive sustainability strategy. From biodiversity protection and ecosystem conservation to social investment and technical training for human talent, its operation has established itself as a benchmark for regenerative development in the region.
Reserva Conchal’s sustainability strategy integrates various initiatives that bring real value to the community, the environment, and the local economy. Among its pillars are the conservation of 39.75 hectares of the Conchal Mixed Wildlife Refuge, part of the Baulas-Conchal Marine Biological Corridor, and the care of more than 2.5 million bees through the Reserva Conchal Apiary, whose multifloral honey has been recognized in international competitions for its purity and geographical origin.
On a social level, it is notable for its investment in community infrastructure, such as the Brasilito school, the Cabo Velas Ebais (healthcare center), the Brasilito Public Force station, and educational programs. As a notable project, the Dual Education Program, which has been in operation since 2014, has graduated more than 350 people in technical specialties for the tourism sector, with 85% employability both inside and outside Reserva Conchal.
The operation is carbon positive (The Westin Reserva Conchal All-Inclusive Golf Resort since 2015 and W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal since 2019) and stands out for its Waste Recovery Center, which achieves a recovery rate of over 96%, promoting a circular economy model that connects with other projects such as the forest nursery and the Hortalizas Najui agroecological garden, led by women heads of households from neighboring communities. These actions demonstrate how hospitality can become a driver of sustainable transformation, connecting people with nature, science, education, and human development.
